About
Cynthia J. Massey
A fiber artist and creative
I knew I had a creative side, as we all do, but not until I reached a certain stage in my life that allowed me the pleasure of self discovery, did I find my style.
I have taken many art classes….drawing, charcoal, colored pencil, pastel, and water color. Thoroughly enjoying all of the mediums. However none of them really excited me until I mixed in my passion for fiber and fabric. I incorporate small pieces of fabric creating a mosaic-type design, exciting the eye in using fibers of different texture, coloring and sheen. About me…. I grew up in the Chicago area, being exposed to all the great things a city has to offer…different people, museums, theater. My family were all hard working. At an early age I had a sewing machine and found myself sewing toys, then clothes, quilts, pillows, drapes…being exposed and having fun with many different kinds of fabrics.
I lived in the upstate of South Carolina for 15 years where I enjoyed the majestic mountains, lakes, and trees before returning to the Chicago area.
Life opened a door for me to move back to South Carolina. While I loved the upstate, the ocean with all it’s majesty drew me to the Charleston area, where I now reside.
The beauty of these areas …so many bright stars at night, clear lakes, water falls, and towering trees with mountains as far as the eye can see, and now the ocean ….all leave a lasting impression on me that feeds my soul.
